The body of a woman who was probably one of four dead hostages killed by Hamas and handed over to Israel this week was identified positively on Saturday morning.
The headquarters of the Forum of hostages and missing families confirmed the identification of Shiri Bibas, who was Returned to Israel On Friday after the Hamas initially handed over a Palestinian woman from Gaza on Thursday.
The Hamas handed over a coffin with Bibas’ remains on the Red Cross on Friday THe ceremonies to the Israeli authorities. The coffin was then brought to the National Institute for Forensic Medicine for identification.
“Last night our Shiri was returned home,” said the family in an explanation. “After the identification process at the Institute of Forensic Medicine, we received the news this morning that we feared – our Shiri was murdered in captivity and has now returned to her sons, her husband, sister and all of her family.”

“Despite our fears of their fate, we continue to hope that we can hug them, and now we have pain and broken heart,” continued it. “We have been looking for security for 16 months, and now that it is here, it does not bring comfort, although we hope that it marks the start of closure.”
The family said: “Shiri was a wonderful mother of Ariel and Kfir, a loving partner of Yarden, a devoted sister and aunt and an amazing friend.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Friday that Hamas would “pay the full price” because he was supposed to hand over the body of a Palestinian woman from gaza instead of Bibas’ remains.

The Israeli military previously said that Bibas’ remains positively identified together with Oded Lifshitz. Four corpses were returned on Thursday, but the one who held Shiri Bibas did not hold hostage.
Hamas said that “there is no interest in holding back any bodies in their possession”. The terrorist group said the dead hostages that she had handed over on Thursday Israeli air raid In November 2023 and that the corpses can be incorrectly identified due to bombing in the region.
After the return of Shiri Bibas, the family demands the return of the remaining hostages in Gaza. Six will be released on Saturday.
