For the past two years, Universal Cinemacon chose to debut the first film material from his adaptation of Evil And now, with the second and last film, it had to happen again. Director Jon M. Chu, producer Marc Platt and stars Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande were all at hand to debut the first film material The eagerly awaited Wicked: ForeverAnd although it is not yet online, it happened here.
Glass breaks on a brand new apartment. Glinda lives in the Emerald City. She goes to her massive balcony and says: “Elphaba Thrack, I know that they are out here, come in before the monkeys see them.” The camera orbits it twice and then Elphaba is there.
Elphaba has set up a home somewhere in the forest. There she looks at some of the propaganda that has spread around her. Monkey flies through oz. Glinda gets a massive crown on the head. Madame Morrible says that the witch will soon be caught, now that Prince Fiyero and his squad are hot on their way. So we see how Fiyero rides a horse through the forest in uniform with many soldiers.
The words “our wizarding lies” are written in the sky. People are on the streets of the Emerald City with torches. Glinda returns to the tower from the end of the first film and goes up the stairs.
Glinda and Elphaba sit together on one swing and discuss all the good that they can do together. A huge church place that wears a long, pink, flowing dress is followed by Fiyero on an altar. Do you get married?
A scene shows how it seems to be Glinda and Elphaba in the large area of the magician, with massive flashing colored lights and it looks like they are all dancing together. Someone treats a few yellow bricks.
The magician clearly has Dorothy, the Zinnmann, the cowardly lion and the scarecrow in his palace and tells them that they should “bring me the broom of the evil witch of the West”. In a successor to the dance scene, Fiyero shows a weapon on Elphaba with the magician with the magician, just so that he changes it to him. He’s still on your side.
Elphaba speaks to Glinda and says: “You are the only friend I’ve ever had.” “And I had so many friends,” jokes Glinda and the two hugs and cry.
When the film material ends, Elphaba is on the spot. She puts her right arm up and pulls her hat in. She puts her left arm up and pulls her broom into it. Then she says: “I’m from the magician”, followed by scenes from which she flies through OZ and is hunted by the monkeys.
I know – that doesn’t make sense, but it was a trailer with many very cool and fascinating moments. It certainly felt like a trailer audience would see later this summer, but we have to wait and see.
