Harvard president pens letter to Linda McMahon

Harvard University President Alan Garber sent a letter to the education secretary Linda McMahon on Monday, in which the measures of the Trump government were criticized against the school, while both groups found that both groups share “similarities” in a number of questions.

“We have common ground in a number of critical topics, including the importance of ending anti -Semitism and other bigotry on campus,” said Garber. “As you believe that Harvard has to promote an academic environment that promotes freedom of thinking and expression, and that we should take on a variety of points of view instead of concentrating our attention on tight orthodoxia.”

Harvard’s goals, however, are “undermined and threatened and threatened to” give the Federal Government to the constitutional freedom of private universities and the continued disregard for compliance with the law by Harvard, “said Garber.

“In accordance with the law and our own values, we continue to pursue the necessary reforms, in consultation with our stakeholders and always in accordance with the law,” he wrote. “But Harvard will not hand over its core, legally protected principles for fear of unfounded retaliation.”

Garber’s statements are a reaction to a devastating letter from McMahon last week, which tells the university that it will no longer be entitled to use federal grants of anti -Semitism On campus.

“Receiving such a taxpayer is a privilege, not a right,” she wrote. “But instead of using these funds to promote the training of his students, Harvard spoils a systemic pattern that violates the federal law. Where do many of these” students “come from, who are they from Harvard or even in our country – and why is there so much hatred?”

“These are questions that have to be answered among many others, but the biggest question of everyone is why Harvard will not give the American public simple answers?” added it.

The Trump government frozen the financing of 2.2 billion US dollars to the university and threatened to revoke its Tax exemption status.

In his letter, Garber listed some of the measures that Harvard took to solve problems on campus, including the installation of new deans and the clarification of the school’s discipline structures and processes. He noticed that, like many universities, Harvard was working on promoting intellectual diversity on campus.

Garber also pushed back McMahon’s claims that Harvard is a “partisan” institution.

“I have to refute her claim that Harvard is a partisan institution. She is neither republican nor democratic,” he wrote. “It is neither an arm of another political party or another movement. It will not be. Harvard is a place where people can learn in an integrative environment with all backgrounds, in which ideas thrive, regardless of whether they are examined as” conservative “,” liberal “or something other than assumptions and claims, respectful and thoughtful and thoughtful and thoughtful.
