The world loves AI. Almost 1 billion people Use Openai products – and it happened in just two years. It is the Silicon Valley Playbook: do it great, make it cheap, leave us addicted and then find out how to earn billions.

We love AI because it offers Cognitive links In a completely new scale. But … that will not end well for most of us. We will have the AI take on a few tasks and soon find that everyone will do it. We will lose our minds, our jobs and our opportunities.

But it doesn’t have to happen that way. Here you can find out how you can see the way in front of you and take another.

The beginning of the end

In March 2023 I used Chatgpt for the first time. Now I use Chatgpt or Claude daily. AI made my brain work faster and more productive. But I also get lazy cognitively.

In the past, I had to thoroughly check the designs of AI. But now I have a good first draft in 90% of the cases, and I am losing the motivation to check his work.

A year ago I thought that the workforce would share in “those who do not use AI” and “those who do it”. Now I see that this is wrong. Every AI will use in five years. The real gap will be between those who manage their AIS – and those who outlast their thinking of them.

How outsourcing worsens our thinking

People have always unloaded cognitive work. Bards Homer’s entire Ilias learned in front of books. Now the technology is an expansion of our brain, which enables us to load mathematics, navigation and notification.
AI is different. Almost every cognitive task can do and feels productive. So Ki -outsourcing Starts innocent. You ask AI to design an e -mail. It does it well and saves them for 10 minutes. Next, ask you to outline a presentation. It nailed.

You use it for more complex tasks, e.g. B. the definition of strategies. Depending on the AI, they start to do the work and slowly their skills.

Microsoft and Carnegie Mellon Published a paper Showing of gene AI can reduce our critical thinking ability. If knowledge employees are confident in the edition of AI, they are less likely to use their own brain.

People who trust (like me) rely on the fact that himself is his factual tester. But there are two problems with it: 1) We overestimate our ability In order to identify the mistakes of the AI and 2) the temptation to skip the factual test is becoming stronger.

AI driver against passengers

Over the next 10 years, the knowledge burden will be divided into two groups: AI drivers and AI passengers.

AI passengers will Delegate your cognitive work to AI. You will insert a prompt in Chatgpt, copy the result and submit it as your own.

In the short term, you will be rewarded for faster work. However, since the AI works with fewer human supervision, passengers are judged as an excess because they do not add anything to the output of AI.

AI driver it will insist to guide AI. You will use AI as the first draft and strictly check your work. And they will sometimes switch it off and take time to think.

In the long term, the economic gap between these groups will expand dramatically. AI drivers will claim a disproportionate proportion of prosperity, while the passengers can be interchangeable.

How to be a AI driver

In this way, make yourself of AIS boss:

  1. Start with what you know. Use AI in areas where you have already exceeded. critically against his edition.
  2. Conduct the conversation instead of asking about the answer. Don’t ask AI: “What should we do with our marketing budget?” Enter AI restrictions, inputs, options and debates.
  3. Be hyper-wax seed. Be an active participant. Do not assume that the output is good enough. Ask yourself to ask yourself, “Is This is a good recommendation? “
  4. Practice active skepticism. Look for AI with your point of view. “Doesn’t that play down the risk of this company?”
  5. Resist the outourcing of every first draft. The empty side is scary, but of crucial importance for activating your brain.
  6. Make the last call and own it. AI should help with every decision with medium to high inserts that you make, but it does not make the final call. Do you have your decisions as a person.

Your mind is a terrible thing to waste

With AI you now have a thought partner who is available around the clock and has every topic “know -how”.

But they are also on the crossroads. You will see how many colleagues deregister from “active thinking” and outsource their decision -making to AI. Many will not even see that their cognitive skills are happening. And until then it will be difficult to go back.

Don’t be this person. Use AI to challenge and strengthen your thinking and not to replace.

The question is not: “Will you use AI?” The question is: “What kind of AI user do you want to be: driver or passenger?”
