Last week I received a question from a reader who led to a good discussion, so I thought I would share it with you here! You wrote:
“I think I know what to do with workouts, but nutrition? I’m not sure where to start.”
Don’t worry, I have you! πͺ
At Nerd Fitness we see most of our customers in one of one of the traps three Starting points in terms of nutrition:
We choose one Small habit as the food of protein at breakfast or preparing a meal and we concentrate on this one change for a few weeks and follow how to do it.
As soon as that feels solid, we add the next one. Slow and steady, but incredibly effective.
β great for: people who want to build sustainable habits without being overwhelmed.
Of course you may think about yourself: βThis is great, matt, but What habits do I actually start with?“
It varies to person, based on the current eating patterns, their goals, etc., but Steve and I put one together βRecommended sequence hereβ. Of course, think, like the pirate code, less similar rules and more guidelines.
This is a βVisual way of structureβ Your meals to:
It is flexible, so it is a little easier in different situations, whether you cook or eat away. Probably the biggest challenge in this type of tracking is when you have many large “one pot meals” in which all ingredients are listed together. Although we have one βOnly a few tricks for itβto.
β great for: people who want structure but do not want to follow any numbers.
This includes the logging of your meals and the goal of striving for certain goals every day.
We usually recommend that you just start with just βproteinβ And βCaloriesβ To keep it easy.
β great for: people who structure data, structure and like exactly.
Here is the thing:
The best option is the one that fits You.
Some of our customers move through all three over time.
Heck, I started with habits, then use the record method and then follow myself for a bit and then return to the habits.
All of these frameworks are only tools – so we would like to select the right one for the job (ie the one who suits you best!)
π§ If you are not sure where to start, try to try it Habitual changes First.
But if it feels too slow or too vague? Pivot to another approach!
