Florida Gov. Ron Desantis Posthum gave five Floridians, including singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett and former Republican and democratic politicians, with the Governor’s medal.
“I am proud to recognize the legacies of these great Floridians,” said Desantis in an explanation.
“Our state is better for your contributions and we are proud that you have called Florida at home,” he continued. “You have the honor of being awarded the governor’s freedom medal.”
The governor awarded Buffett, the former US representative and the state congress member, Lincoln Diaz-Balart, the former democratic governor and the US senator Bob Graham, the former democratic governor and the US Report. Buddy Mackay, and the former Republican spokesman for the Republican Republican Florida, John Thrasher, one of the state’s highest awards.

Mackay, who was the last democratic governor of the state, died last year at the age of 91. His public service also included in both chambers of the legislator and the US house Sunshine state Lieutenant governor and later the US special representative for America under the Clinton government.
Thrasher died at the age of 81 at the beginning of this year, after serving as President of Florida State University, Chairman of the Republican Party of Florida and in both chambers of the legislator. During the Vietnam War, he also served in the army.
