Insta360 x3 for $ 250: You have to be satisfied with 5.7,000 film material, and this is on a 1/2-inch sensor that is only 1080p if you come to a rectangular video format. Nevertheless, you get almost the same form factor as the X4 and can use it as a 4K-soaked action cam. At this price, the X3 remains a practicable option for those who want to use 360 videos without spending assets.
Insta360 an RS for 300 US dollars: The company Action camera/360 camera hybrid is another option. The video material is not as good as the other cameras in this guide, but you can exchange the lens and have an action camera at a moment, which is the main sales argument. After the X3 and X4 can also be used as a 4K action cameras, one RS is less tempting than before. If you like the action camera form factor, but also want to record 360 film material, this RS is a great camera. The real combination would be the 360 lens, which is paired with the Leica lens, but the price for this combination is considerably higher.
GoPro Max for $ 822: Gopros Entry into the 360 camera world is a capable action camera with 6K videos in a waterproof form factor with industrial stabilization. There are all shooting modes you know from your GoPro, such as Hypersmooth, Timewarp, PowerPano and more. Like the X4, there is a single LENS mode (called hero mode), and my favorite part is compatible with the Max with most GoPro mount and accessories. The main reason why Max is not one of our top picks is that the Max 2 will probably come very soon. If you want a maximum wish, wait better.
QOOCAM 3 Ultra for $ 599: It is not widespread and we had no chance to try one, but Kandas Qoocam 3 Ultra is another 8K 360 camera that looks promising at least on paper. The 1: 1.6 panel is particularly interesting because most of the remaining areas are in F/2 and in height. We will update this guide if we had the chance to test a QOOCAM.
Avoid 360 cameras
Insta360 an X2 for $ 230: Insta360s older X2 differs from the X3 that has replaced it. The form factor is less comfortable. (The screen is tiny; you have to use it pretty much with a phone). It still shoots a 5.7k video, but it is not as well stabilized, nor is it almost as sharp as the X3 or X4. If you cannot get it for well under 200 US dollars, the X2 is not worth a purchase.
Insta360 One RS 1 360 Edition: Although I still like and use this camera, it seems to have been hired and there is no replacement in sight. The X5 provides a better video quality in a lighter, less fragile body, but I will miss the 1-inch sensors who managed to pull many details, even if the film material was exceeded at 6K. These are still available, but at outrageous prices. You are better with the X5.
