President-elect Donald Trump’s ability to humanize himself with candor and jokes on podcasts is widely seen as a reason he won back the White House in 2024.
Since the election, both Republicans and Democrats have analyzed why Trump defeated Vice President Kamala Harris. A key factor that commentators across the political spectrum can agree on is this Podcast interviews seemed to influence the election more than celebrity endorsements or the liberal traditional media.
The data seems to back this up, as the Poynter Institute noted that some have even mentioned the year 2024 “Podcast Choice” as both Trump and Harris appeared multiple times on programs that reached specific, large audiences.
While Harris’ foray into the podcast scene has ranged from appearances on “Club Shay Shay,” hosted by former NFL player Shannon Sharpe, to the popular podcast “Call Her Daddy,” hosted by former Barstool personality Alex Cooper, Trump prevailed. His decision to focus on podcasts, particularly male-oriented ones, paid off big with Gen Z men and Millennials. Comedian and podcaster Theo Von interviewed Trump in August, accepting the invitation after his son Barron encouraged him to do so.

It’s a pretty busy street… and she sees him and says, ‘He’s suspicious.’ I see people running all the time who don’t look so hot!
