Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman He strongly opposed the ongoing government shutdown on Sunday and criticized members of his own party for sending the “wrong message” about the standoff.
“We are shutting down our government. That sends the wrong message to the world, including to Americans,” Fetterman said on “Sunday morning futures.”
“I don’t care who’s to blame. This isn’t about a blame game. This is about opening up this government, having this conversation and addressing these types of issues in every sense of the word.” Health topics also.”

In an exclusive Fox News interview, the Pennsylvania Democrat vowed he would “never” vote for a shutdown and admonished those who refuse to negotiate an end to the standoff.
“It was wrong for the Republicans to do something like that, and I made that accusation back in March and said it was wrong to close us down and we left it open. I said back then, in March, that in September I would be the only one to say it was wrong to do something like that,” he said.
“Really, the losers are these poor Americans here who are going to be caught in the middle of this thing. I fully support them.” [having] a conversation about expanding this [Obamacare] Tax credits. I think many Republicans might actually agree with that.”

“That’s a priority for us, and they may agree, but let’s open up our government and have the conversation so people get paid and we can’t have a mess like this.”
Since the Shuter shutdown began on October 1st, there has been repeated blame. Republicans called the standoff a “Schumer shutdown” and Democrats demanded that Republicans and President Trump agree to a deal on Obamacare tax credits, which are set to expire at the end of the year.

Democratic Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto of Nevada and independent Sen. Angus King of Maine joined Fetterman in voting for the Republican emergency funding bill that would have kept the government open.
The measure requires 60 votes to pass, meaning Republicans need to get five more votes.
