There is a crowd on Saturday gathered in cities across the United States to protest against the president Donald Trump and its administration. Organizers of the No Kings rallies say more than 7 million people in total took part in 2,700 cities across the United States and beyond. The meetings not only provided a clear picture of how The resistance spread the Trump administration has become, but also the diversity of the coalition that drives it. Not to mention the signs.
“Today, millions of Americans stood together to reject authoritarianism and remind the world that our democracy belongs to the people, not the ambitions of one man,” said Ezra Levin and Leah Greenberg, co-founders of the nonprofit Indivisible, which took the lead in organizing the rallies.
Ahead of Saturday, House Speaker Mike Johnson described the planned gatherings as a “Hate America rally” and warned that they would be packed with crowds “Antifa guys.” In reality, the protests were entirely peaceful, although the number of inflatable costumes seemed to significantly outnumber the conservative bogeymen. And Trump’s response to No Kings? An AI generated one video of himself wearing a crown, piloting a fighter jet, and dropping massive amounts of excrement on the protesting US citizens below.
In the real world, crowds went their way without any problems. Below are snapshots from No Kings from cities across the U.S., a look at a protest movement that is increasingly motivated and mobilized.
