‘Stop-Mamdani’ movement may fail Cuomo despite recent Eric Adams endorsement

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

There was Andrew Cuomoat Madison Square Garden, itching to watch a Knicks game.

What was the ousted governor so happy about? He had just returned from the last New York mayoral debate, where he took a few hits from the leading candidate Zohran Mamdanibut he is still on track to lose the election.

Ah, but the appearance at an NBA game (the league was suddenly hit by a gambling scandal that included the Mafia!) – was a photo op with Mayor Eric Adams, who endorsed his former rival yesterday.

What if he called Cuomo “a snake and a liar” last month?

ANDREW CUOMO CAMPAIGN RETREATS, AWESOME ATTACK AD TARGETING MAMDANI VOTERS

But Adams, who had been indicted on corruption charges – until Trump Ministry of Justice dropped the case – was in the single digits. Therefore, his endorsement may not move many votes, although it could give Cuomo some credibility in the black community and among Orthodox Jews.

New York City politics is a nine-dimensional chess game of shifting alliances, white-hot rivalries, and conflicting narratives. As a local you have to understand the melting pot, the boroughs, the ethnic neighborhoods, Wall Street, Albany – it’s an asphalt jungle.

New York mayor tend to become national figures — John Lindsay, Ed Koch, Rudy Giuliani, Michael Bloomberg — by ruling the media capital.

You think this is a coincidence Donald Trump, Are Andrew Cuomo, Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer all from New York? Come on! What’s crazier with you?

Mamdani, a congressman who started at 1 percent, should have been beaten by Cuomo, who made a lazy, entitled attempt and lost the Democratic nomination.

From Harlem to Coney Island, Mamdani proved to be a charismatic activist. He’ll probably win even if that Republican, Curtis SliwaFormerly a member of the Guardian Angels, he is leaving, which he has no incentive to do.

Therefore, the race has turned into a Stop Mamdani movement, largely because he is a self-proclaimed democratic socialist who has taken some far-left stances in the past, such as defunding the police. Republicans would like to make him a national symbol of the party; Trump regularly calls him a “communist.” But even many Democrats fear that he could displace Apple’s business.

As the son of a governor, Cuomo inevitably seems to be the establishment candidate. And Andrew, who I’ve known since he was 25 before he ran HUD, has the burden of being forced to resign amid allegations of sexual harassment by 13 women – with Mamdani revealing that one of them, Charlotte Bennett, was in the debate audience.

Cuomo was unhinged and said no charges were ever filed. By the way, Trump took the same step in a debate with Trump Hillary Clinton.

Andrew Cuomo has also been blamed for nursing home deaths during the pandemic.

MAYOR ERIC ADAMS SUPPORTS ANDREW CUOMO AS HIS SUCCESSOR WHILE ZOHRAN MAMDANI KEEPES THE LEAD IN THE NYC RACE

The New York Times has seven “takeaways,” such as that Cuomo has “more energy” and lands “more punches” against Mamdani: “He never ran anything, never accomplished anything; he never had a real job.”

In a classic New York putdown, the ex-governor said Trump would roll right over Mamdani: “He thinks he’s a kid and he’s going to punch him in the stomach.” (You can look it up. Mayor Koch once called someone an “idiot” and there was a whole editorial debate about whether I could print that.)

Mamdani responded that Cuomo was merely “Trump’s puppet.”

If you get the impression that the president is pretty unpopular in his hometown, which has since been abandoned to move to Palm Beach, you’re right.

Both rivals criticized Mamdani for Israel, with Sliwa saying his two young sons, who are Jewish, felt unsafe.

This is one of the key points in the Washington Postwhich includes five “takeaways”.

“He does not believe the country should exist as a Jewish-majority state and should instead focus on equality between Palestinians and Jews. In this debate, attacks on Mamdani, who is Muslim, seemed to land harder, even though Mamdani insisted he would fight anti-Semitism.”

That brings us to a far more personal attack from the Times columnist Bret Stephensunder the heading “Why Mamdani scares Jews like me.”

He invokes some lesser-known viewpoints from the past.

First, when Mamdani founded the Bowdoin College chapter Students for Justice in PalestineHe ended his association with the left-wing Jewish group J Street, which supports Palestinian statehood and opposes Israeli settlements

“Why? Because J Street supports Israel as a ‘democratic homeland for the Jewish people’.” That was too much for Mamdani…who to this day does not support Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state.”

Second, Mamdani wrote a rap song in 2017 professing his love for “the Holy Land Five.” The Holy Land Foundation was an alleged charity convicted in 2008 of providing $12 million to Hamas, with the defendants convicted of terrorism and other crimes.

SOCIAL MEDIA erupts after Cuomo and Mamdani rip each other off during final debate: ‘exposed’

Three, a few months before that October 7 massacre by HamasMamdani introduced a bill “that could have jeopardized the tax-exempt status of virtually every pro-Israel charity.” Stephens accuses the frontrunner of “monomania.”

This is no small feat in a city with the largest Jewish population in the world outside of Israel. But Mamdani has met with rabbis, and some younger Jewish voters are supporting him, either because they are focused on his affordability campaign or because they reject the damage and death toll Israel has inflicted on Gaza.

And get this: Cuomo just removed an AI ad portraying Mamdani supporters as looters and drunk drivers as human traffickers. “Just disgusting,” Zohran said.

So that concludes this part, right?

Sit down! There’s more and more drama in the city that never sleeps.

Curtis Sliwa suddenly quit his job at New York’s Top Talk Radio station, WABC (a rock station in my time).

“You’ll never see me in the WABC studios again!” he thundered.

Sliwa said the people he hired and trained betrayed him by urging him to quit to stop Mamdani.

Billionaire John Catsimatidis, the station owner who himself ran for mayor a decade ago, has also proposed his resignation.

Sliwa told host Sid Rosenberg that WABC was biased against Cuomo. “You’re going to lose, and lose badly, embarrassingly,” Rosenberg said as her screaming grew louder.

I have no idea why Curtis Sliwa would give up the gig. But like that politician You know, New York is a remote, honking place where everyone takes turns being angry at each other.
