Pelosi slams Trump as ‘vile creature’ and ‘worst thing on earth’

Former Nancy Pelosi of California condemned the president Donald Trump a “vile creature” and the worst human being on the planet in an interview with CNN published Monday.

“He’s just a hideous creature. The worst thing in the world,” she said.

“Do you think he’s the worst thing in the world?” asked interviewer Elex Michaelson.

“I do, yes. I do,” Pelosi confirmed.

Voting is underway California’s Proposition 50, in a special election that will have significant implications for the fight for the majority in the U.S. House of Representatives next year. California voters will decide whether to pass the proposal, which would dramatically alter the state’s congressional districts and put the blue state at the center of the political battle over redistricting.

Critics have disparaged Proposition 50 as one “seizure of power” from Democrats, but Pelosi, defending the proposal, said Trump was the real threat to the country. Michaelson noted that Pelosi specifically framed this initiative as a way to push back against Trump.

When asked about her harsh rhetoric, she listed a number of alleged grievances.

“Because he is the president of the United States and he does not respect the Constitution of the United States,” Pelosi said. “In fact, he has turned the Supreme Court into a rogue court. He has abolished the House of Representatives. He has coerced the press. He has frightened people who are legally in our country.”

While Pelosi did not answer whether she would seek re-election in her district, she maintained that she would win handily.

“I have no doubt that if I decided to run, I would win. That’s not even a question. That’s not arrogant, it’s confident,” she said.

She further argued that her top priority right now is winning the House for Democrats and that Proposition 50 is the first step toward that.

“My only reason for being in Congress this term is to win the House of Representatives for the Democrats to protect us from the poison of the Trump administration,” she said.
