As a sophomore in 2023, Jeanty ran for 1,347 yards – he nearly doubled that number last season.

Jeanty ran for 2,601 yards, 28 fewer than Barry Sanders, surpassing the most yards in a college season. However, his epic campaign vaulted him into second place on the all-time list, as he outpointed both Melvin Gordon and Kevin Smith in his only College Football Playoff game against a stout Penn State defense.

Jeanty’s performance led the Broncos to win the Mountain West and earn a bye to the CFP quarterfinals. However, Jeanty only ran for 104 yards, his lowest output of the season, as the Nittany Lions reached the semifinals. Entering the Fiesta Bowl, Jeanty had rushed for 125 yards in each of his final 13 games of the season.

The running back is considered a first-rounder this season, and it’s hard to see why he shouldn’t be. The 2024 season saw a resurgence at the running back position, and Jeanty is without a doubt the best on the team this year.

It’s pretty rare for running backs to be taken in the first round, although there were two such cases in 2023 – but again, Jeanty’s skill set and the way the position has been handled have given them value again this year has selected some teenage mock drafts.
