“The View” Co-host Sunny Hostin called President Donald Trump a “DEI employee” on Monday while reacting to his inauguration, pointing out the “hypocrisy” of his announcement that he would eliminate diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policies.
“The only thing I thought about was the hypocrisy of a man being sworn in as president on the same day we commemorate MLK and that same man saying he would abolish diversity, equity and inclusion,” Hostin said. “Because Martin Luther King not only wanted racial equality, he also wanted economic equality. And that’s something that people often overlook.”
“I want to remind people that he said that black Americans deserve reparations for the injustices they face. He argued that reparations were actually a form of justice, not charity, and he said, quote, ‘It’s okay to tell a man.’ to pull himself up by his own bootstraps, but to tell a man without boots to lift himself up by his own bootstraps,” she continued.
“If you think about it, and Donald Trump says that this country would be a meritocracy, you are talking about a man who did not become president of the United States on his merits,” Hostin said, arguing that he did “no” politically Experience. She concluded: “He has been given everything he has. He is a legacy employee. He is, if anything, a DEI employee, an undeserving employee, and those are just some of the things I was thinking about.

Host and co-host Ana Navarro revealed they were not watching the inauguration On Monday, both emphasized that it was also Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Hostin revealed at the beginning of her remarks that she instead went to the Buffalo Wild Wings to watch college football with friends.
Later in the show, Navarro encouraged Democrats to protest Trump at every opportunity.
Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin said she watched and covered the inauguration and was convinced that people should stop using the phrase “normalize Donald Trump,” arguing that Trump has already been “normalized” by being re-elected.
“Donald Trump is normalized, whether you like it or not, 75 million people voted for him. “He is now as much a part of American history as George Bush, Barack Obama and any other two-term president,” Griffin said.
She continued: “I was shocked by the pictures – he fell from grace four years ago, hardly anyone showed up when he announced his re-election two years ago – and now he’s come back like a conquering king and has had the greatest titans of. “Industry, fashion designers, he had Democrats and every former president there, and I think it’s a moment to be clear about why he won and the reasons he won.
