To say it with the words of Yogi Berra: It is again a déjà-vu. This time the New Yorkers may have hit it a little deeper.

The Empire State Building shone green to support this Philadelphia Eagles In their victory over the Washington Commanders in the NFC championship on Sunday evening. Saquon Barkley, who had previously played for the NFC Eeast rival New York Giants until the 2024 season, ran for two touchdowns.

The video of the building structure in green could be seen in the X account of the landmark.

“I’m sorry that I have to do that,” says the post. “Shut in the colors of the @Eeagles in honor of their NFC championship victory.”

From the account it was clear that it would also light up in the colors of the AFC championship winner, but that didn’t seem to be so important. Fans criticized that the building was illuminated in colors to support Philadelphia’s NFL team. I see it as a betrayal to the city.

The Empire State Building showed its support for the Eagles two years ago when the team defeated the San Francisco 49ers and made it into the Super Bowl LVII. The building also shone red for the chiefs when they won the AFC championship this year.

On the whole, the New York football teams have long since had no reason to be happy.

The giantsAfter releasing Barkley into the free hand, he ended the 2024 season with 3-14. You have had a playoff appearance in the last eight seasons.
