Apple withdraws its safest cloud storage service from Great Britain after the British government has ordered the iPhone manufacturer to grant secret access to customer data.
“Apple can no longer offer extended data protection (ADP) for new users in Great Britain, and the current British users have to deactivate this safety function,” said the US Big Tech company on Friday.
According to the law on the British, Apple received a “technical ability to know” according to the law on the British investigation.
The request for a so-called “backdoor” of user data would have enabled law enforcement and security services to type iPhone backups and other cloud data, which are otherwise inaccessible to Apple itself.
The law, which is referred to by its critics as “Snooper -Charta”, has exceptional powers, which means that the British law enforcement authorities could access the encrypted data from Apple customers all over the world, including in the USA.
