The baseball story has just been done by the Cleveland Guardians. The Detroit Tigers (87-75) led the Guardians (88-74) 9.5 games with 16 games to play on September 10 (Cleveland had 17), but ended 3-13, while Cleveland went 14-3.
At a time in July the guards were 15.5 games behind the Tigers and made Cleveland’s comeback The largest since the division game came to MLB in 1969. The previous record was the 15 -game comeback of the Yankees to take over the Eastern Division of the American League in 1978 after taking the Boston Red Sox with 14 games. It was a remarkable September for the guards, really unique. (And for the tigers, although exactly the opposite type.)
Because the baseball gods have one Sense of humorCleveland will host Detroit in the top three player series, which starts today shortly after 1 p.m. The second game (and a third, if necessary, starts at the same time and in the same place.)
So yes, we Guardians fans are pretty excited. I have a lot of friends who optimize me by calling the guards under their old name “The Indian” and through their old nickname, the trunk – and my muscle memory sometimes takes over and I also use the old name and nickname.
But I Cheers for clubsNo nicknames. The vast majority of Cleveland fans. Optimize in the comments. I don’t care. The Guardians still organize the tigers, from today a little after 1 p.m. and from progressive fields on the corner of Carnegie and Ontario in Cleveland. Tom Hamilton (“Hammy”) will call the games and he is the best in business. Terry Pluto will write about the games together with Paul Hoynes and Joe Noga and maybe Jimmy Watkins at Cleveland.com. Northeast Ohio takes his professional clubs very seriously, so the local news agencies dedicate resources to the services of the fan base and the huge diaspora of Clleveland fans, who keep these platforms afloat, and not because of political controversy in the district of Cuyahoga.
Apart from: I met my wife in autumn 1978 in a fundraising campaign for the then mayor of San Diego, Pete Wilson. She has decades of Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Cavaliers and experienced Cleveland Indian/Legal Personnel Seasons since. Overall, there was a championship in those years (the CAVs won a breathtaking surprise about the Golden State Warriors in 2016), so that sports widows and widower of the last half century attract themselves. Your spouse will be a little crazy again this week. And sit down. They know that the dark clouds descend and they last a few days. But maybe not this autumn!
Cleveland did not win any World Series in my life, the last in 1948. They came close in 1995, 1997 and 2016, but Close does not make them a ring. (You also won everything in 1920 and lost in 1954, but since I did not have to observe the collapse from 1954, I am indifferent to the triumph of 1920 and 1948.)
The browns have never been in a super bowl. You last won the NFL championship in 1964. The Cavs are pretty good at the moment, but without LeBron James they have never won everything. So there are skeptics. But there could be two two -way championships. (The Browns are not on the hunt, without a wonderful appearance of Rookie QBS Dillon Gabriel or Shedur Sanders.)

Ohio State University, 1968, 1970, 2002, 2014, National College Football Championships and after the regular 2024 season, which for the first time in the history of sport carried out the Gauntlet from four Playoff games, made a certain relief and claimed national championships in College football. They could even repeat.
But professional sport in Cleveland? It has been a desert with an oasis for 50 years.

This is a long way to explain to you that there may be Mood swings Among her colleagues this week (and maybe longer) if the run of the guards continues. You may not know that you come from Ohio, even though we usually tell you. And we will definitely tell you this week and beyond, as long as the “Guards Ball” continues.
Cleveland has the best fan base in the country and the longest suffer. So put up with us this October. We couldn’t quite believe September. But it is very believing this month.
