Billy Joel reveals his heartbreak over divorce from Christie Brinkley

Billy Joel said that he was “destroyed” as the second woman Christie Brinkley left him left during her nine -year marriage, which was divorced in 1994.

“I realized that love is not concrete,” said the “Uptown Girl” singer in the second part of his documentary “Bill Joel: And that’s how it works.” He added: “You know, you have the feeling that it is so, but there are things away, and in the end everything catches up. And it is difficult. And I was so destroyed.”

An obviously emotional Brinkley said she tried.

Christie Brinkley tells the devastating personal moment that she almost broke.

“I wanted it to work. I knew how happy I was to have music and all of that, but it just didn’t work,” she said.

The former couple met in St. Barts in 1983. They married in 1985 and soon had their only daughter. Alexa Ray Joel.

“Our relationship went from a lot of fun and really enjoyed his work to consume him, and when I took to the street, I did not see him because the settlement period after the show lasted so late in the night, and it is like ‘What am I doing here?'” Said Brinkley. “And I just don’t know what to do, but I can’t be lonely, only me and Alexa in this big old house, which should be so full of life and love, music and laughter and all of that. ‘ Things began to worsen.

Joel said it was a difficult time for him because they were newly married and had a young daughter, but he was on the move most of the time.

“I realized that love is not concrete. You know, you have the feeling that it is so, but there are things that eat it away, and in the end everything catches up. And it is difficult. And I was so destroyed.”

Christie Brinkley admits that despite four failed marriages, she is a “fool for love”

“I was in a relationship with someone I was very interested, but I couldn’t be at home,” he said. “I couldn’t be with my family. It was a very sad time for me.”

The 76-year-old said he believes that his daughter knew that he and Brinkley would share.

“And for a child it’s a very traumatic thing,” he said.

Joel’s own parents divorced when he was 8 years old, about as old as Alexa when he and Brinkley divorced in 1994, but Joel’s father went to the divorce, and he only saw him when he was in the 20s.

“She had to know that I would always be there,” said the singer “piano” about his own daughter, who is now 39 years old.

“I don’t think it is a secret that his drink got pretty bad, and he couldn’t really remember what he was doing when he drank, so he didn’t really know how he could hurt humans,” added Brinkley.

She said she would pretend to sleep when he got into her bedroom drunk, “because I didn’t want to see him in this condition.”

She held back and added: “One night we had an argument and I said: ‘I really can’t stand it anymore, and I will just bring Alexa back to New York and he said:’ Yes, well, go. ‘”

“True love does not always float on clouds and ecstasy,” Joel told the producer about the texts of “and that’s how it works.”

“A lot of it is pain.”

Joel married celebrity chef Katie Lee in 2004. They divorced five years later and married his current wife. Alexis RoderickIn 2015. They share two daughters. Before his marriage to Brinkley, Joel was married to Elizabeth Small from 1973 to 1983.
