Brazil’s prosecutor-general files charges against ex-President Bolsonaro over alleged coup plan

The Attorney General of Brazil submitted accusations against the former president on Tuesday Jair Bolsonaro For the attempt by a coup d’état to remain in office after his election of 2022.

The Attorney General Paulo Gonet claims that Bolsonaro and 33 others have participated in the plan to stay in power President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.

Last November, the federal police submitted an 884-page report with Gonet in which the program was described. They claim that it systematically reduced the mistrust of the electoral system in the population to create a decree in order to give the plot a veneer of legality, to make the military brass with a top police and to take up a turmoil in the capital.

The right -wing extremist guide denies misconduct. “I have no concerns about the accusations, Zero,” said Bolsonaro on Tuesday during a visit to the Senate in Brasilia.

“Did you happen to see the coup decree? You didn’t do it. I didn’t have it either,” he added.

A Bolsonaro lawyer did not immediately answer a request for a comment.
