A pastor in Chicago, which is known for its unconventional forms of activism, takes the next step to inspire the country’s youth.

Brooks won national attention in 2011 when he spent 94 days on the roof of a return Chicago Motel to protest against violence and the death of young people in his community. The pastor aimed to collect money to tear down the abandoned motel that he said that he had become a hub for drugs and crime.
This demonstration was a success and led to the establishment of Project Hood, a non -profit organization that is supposed to help endangered young people to escape poverty and violence. On the organization’s website, she gives mentoring, training courses and shared investigations for the residents.
“In Chicago we took one of the most dangerous quarters across America and changed it,” said Brooks about her earlier work.

Now he wants his latest mission, which called the “Walk Through America” to help him more young people. The aim of the trip is to collect private donations of $ 25 million in order to end the 90,000 square meter leadership and the economic opportunity center in Chicago. Brooks said he was striving to spread the project hood across the country.

Brooks said the efforts have already received support from private individuals, business leaders and donors.

Brooks said he hoped that his walk will teach others that faith and hard work can help people do great things.
“I really think America is still working,” he said. “If we have activated trust and hard work and vision, we can let everything happen in America.”
