Mookie beds Will miss the Los Angeles Dodgers‘Tokyo series against the Chicago Cubs Because of an illness. Dave Roberts, Manager of Dodgers, announced the decision on Sunday evening.
Roberts said that beds feel better, but has lost almost 15 pounds and is still trying to be rehydrated and gain strength. Roberts added that the eight-time all-star could possibly fly back to the USA in order to prepare for the domestic opener on March 27.
The Cubs and Dodgers open the Major League Baseball season on Tuesday in the Tokyo Dome. A second game is on Wednesday.
“He won’t play in these two games,” said Roberts. “If you are dehydrated, one person opens up to soft tissue injuries. We are very aware of it.”
Said Roberts Miguel Rojas Starts for the two games in the Tokyo Dome near Shortstop in Betts’ place.
Betts made easy training on Sunday, but quickly got tired. He started suffering from flu -like symptoms in Arizona, one day before the team went to Japan. He still went on the long aircraft trip, but did not recover as quickly as it was hoped for.
Betts makes the full -time crossing to Shortstop this season after playing most of his career in the right field and in the second basis. The AL MVP 2018 hit 19 Homern and 75 RBIs .289 last season and helped the Dodgers to win the World Series.
