Rep. Ritchie Torres, Rn.Y., said: “I worry in the age of social media, I think we are witness to the rise of violent extremism and domestic terrorism both at home and abroad.”
Torres added that “the security of public figures can no longer be regarded as a matter of course”.
“I have lost an incentive to conduct public events without extensive safety precautions,” he said, adding, “I suspect that the fear of every congress member is heavily burdened.”
