Donald Trump called Russian President Vladimir Putin “crazy” after a wave of air strikes on Ukraine in a strong complaint from Moscow.
The US President said on Sunday evening that he was “not satisfied with what Putin was doing” after Russia had hit dozens of Ukrainian cities, and the hope that a record exchange completed on Sunday could lead to an attitude to the hostility.
“He kills a lot of people. I don’t know what happened to the hell Putin,” said Trump reporters. “We are currently talking and he shoots rockets in Kyiv and other cities. I don’t like it at all.”
Later in a social post, Trump repeated his criticism of Russia’s leader and said that when Putin tried to conquer the entire Ukraine, this would lead to the “fall of Russia”.
“I always had a very good relationship with Vladimir Putin from Russia, but something happened to him. He went absolutely crazy!” Trump wrote.
“He kills unnecessarily, and I am not just talking about soldiers. Rakets and drones are shot in cities in Ukraine for no reason. I have always said that he wants the entire Ukraine, not just a piece of it, and maybe that’s right, but if he does it, it will lead to the waste of Russia!”
Trump was also with the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. “Everything from his mouth causes problems, I don’t like it and it stops better,” he said.
At least 12 people were killed in Russia’s attack on Sunday and dozens were injured. It came after another big attack on Saturday.
According to Zelenskyy, 30 cities were targeted in 12 regions. He asked the Western allies to reinforce their pressure on Moscow in response to the attack, which he described as further evidence that Putin was not interested in peace.
“Putin must be forced not to think about starting rockets, but to end the war,” said Zelenskyy. Every Russian air raid was “a sufficient reason for new sanctions against Russia”.
Putin has rejected US and European demands for immediate ceasefire. So far, the only agreement has been the only agreement for Moscow, the 1,000 Ukrainian prisoners of war, which were exchanged around 1,000 Russian prisoners of war at the weekend.
The Swap, which was agreed in Istanbul at the beginning of this month, when Ukraine and Russia had held its first direct discussions for three years. started on Friday and was carried out over three days. Zelenskyy said that Ukraine returned 303 Ukrainian soldiers on Sunday.
While the exchange of Kyiv was welcomed and marked a rare moment of cooperation with Moscow, the Ukrainian officials remain skeptical of its broader importance.
In the past few days, Russian officials have pointed out that they could again penetrate the border regions of Sumy and Kharkiv in the northeast of Ukraine, while Putin said that his army is working on creating a “buffer zone” in this area.
The Russian leader has also retained his maximum position in relation to peace talks, which Ukrainian officials say that he is a sign that he is planning to continue the greatest war against European soil for almost a century.
A document that was created by the Ukrainian President’s office with the title “Proposed Stops for the Sanctions for the EU” and outlines by the Financial Times of companies and areas in Russia’s energy and financial sectors and the military industrial complex that Kyiv wants to see from its European partners.
Some Ukrainian officials and western analysts have warned that Russia could prepare a newly created air campaign that is summarized with one Potential newar offensive.
An increase in the Russian rocket and drone attacks at the weekend could be the opening phase of this wider strategy, they said.
Russia now produces faster than
This increase in Russian production means that Ukraine will need further western support to maintain its defense – at a time when US support is uncertain and the European stocks are unable to completely replace American weapons, especially air defense.
