The Empire State building in New York shines on Monday evening for a four-hour window in memory of gold and white tower lights in memory Pope Francis after his death.
The building shone from Monday evening at 10 p.m. and will be honored on Tuesday until 2 p.m. on Tuesday to honor the life and legacy of the Pope, according to the Empire State Building website.
“The Empire State Building Lights has been a decisive feature of New York City skyline since 1976 and has been capturing the world’s imagination for decades,” says the building’s website. “We keep the tradition in changing the color of the lights to recognize important occasions, holidays and organizations all year round.”

“Since 2012, the building has been using a state-of-the-art LED lighting system that can display more than 16 million colors,” added the website.
Francis died on Monday morning at the age of 88 and ended his 12-year-old paper as 266th Pope and Spiritual Fiihrer of the Roman Catholic Church.
“This morning at 7:35 a.m., the bishop of Rome, Francis, returned to the father’s house. His whole life was dedicated to the service of the Lord and his church,” said Cardinal Kevin Ferrell, the Vatican Camerlengo, on Monday morning.

“He taught us to live the values of the gospel with loyalty, courage and universal love, in particular in favor of the poorest and most marginalized,” continued Ferrell. “With immense gratitude for his example as the true disciple of Lord Jesus, we praise the soul of the Pope Francis to the infinite merciful love of one and the three -member God.”
