The special representative Steve Witkoff is expected to meet Israeli and Qatarian officials in Rome On Thursday, the United States is pushing for an armistice in Gaza.
The Hamas and Israel take indirect negotiations to end the war that has passed for almost two years. However, Witkoff’s travel route depends on the progress in the talks. If the parties in Rome make enough progress, Witkoff will report to Doha to conclude the deal. According to Axios.
The outlet also reported that sources indicate that the meeting in Rome could indicate that a deal is nearby – possibly only a few days away.
At the beginning of this month, Israel agreed to a 60-day caffeine proposal supported by the United States, which would lead to the end of the war. This deal includes a gradual publication of hostages, the withdrawal of Israeli troops from parts of the Gaza and discussions about the end of the conflict. According to Reuters.

“My representatives had a long and productive meeting with the Israelis in Gaza today. Israel has agreed to complete the 60 -day cure arrest. Trump presses Israel to end the Gaza conflict while he corresponds to Abraham from the expansion
If Trump can put an end to the war, this could mean an extension of the Abraham Agreement, one of the signature efforts of Trump’s first administration, in which Israel signed normalization agreements with the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Morocco and Sudan. However, Trump still has to describe in detail which countries would be added.
The Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar said on June 30 that Israel was “serious” to seek an end to the conflict. He added that Jerusalem has an interest in “countries like Syria and Lebanon, our neighbors, the circle of peace and normalization”.
