Over 170 million American users were unable to access TikTok on Saturday evening as the app displayed a message saying it was offline until further notice. The app was no longer available on Google or the App Store. The Biden administration has signed a law requiring Chinese Communist Party-linked TikTok parent company Bytedance to separate from the company in April or face closure in the United States. The Supreme Court upheld the law on Friday.

“A law has been passed in the US to ban TikTok. Unfortunately, this means you will not be able to use TikTok for the time being,” the message reads in part. The next morning, users were greeted with a new notification that the app had resumed service “due to the efforts of President Trump.”

Influencers were quick to celebrate the resumption of their favorite social media app. Users praised President-elect Trump for his help in restoring TikTok after he said he would likely give the app a 90-day extension to comply with the law.
