Hegseth repeats claim that ‘nobody’s texting war plans’ after leak: ‘I know exactly what I’m doing’

Minister of Defense Pete Hegseth On Tuesday, the questions of a reporter referred to a leaked signal chat group in which the Trump administrative officers were involved who discuss the upcoming strikes about the Houthis in Yemen.

Hegseth was asked during a press gage in Hawaii whether the information was released before using it in the Signal Chat and whether he used the messaging platform to discuss operations as sensitively as the strikes against the Houthis on a government or a personal device.

Jeffrey Goldberg, the editor-in-chief of the Atlantic, said that on March 11, he received an inquiry to join the group chat about the encrypted messaging service signal from the national security advisor of President Michael Waltz. Goldberg published screenshots of some of the news exchanges he observed.

Goldberg reported that the officials discussed “war plans” in the group chat “Houthi PC Small Group”, but he decided not to publish some of the highly sensitive information he saw, including precise information about weapon packages, goals and timing, since potential threats to national security and military operations were threatened.

Trump officers accidentally write an Atlantic journalist about military strikes in obvious security violations.

Hegseth said in Hawaii on Tuesday and said the strikes against the Houthis that night were “devastatingly effective”.

“I am incredibly proud of the courage and skills of the troops. And they are on and are still devastatingly effective,” he said. “The last place where I want to be now is a Houthi in Yemen who wants to disturb the freedom of navigation. So the skills and courage of our troops are fully over.”

“It is a complete approach from the fucking of the Biden Administration,” he continued.

The secretary also repeated his claims that “nobody wrote war plans” and put the claim of Goldberg back.

“As I said yesterday, nobody wrote war plans, and that’s all I have to say,” said Hegseth.

Hegseth was pushed by a reporter whether he regretted it to have information in the Signal Chat, which could have endangered the life of the US troops, and claimed that he had everything under control.

“Nobody writes war plans,” he repeated. “I know exactly what I do, exactly what we lead, and I’m really proud of what we have achieved, the successful missions that night and further.”

Goldberg reported that 18 people were listed in the signal group, including Hegseth, Waltz, Vice President JD Vance, Foreign Minister Marco Rubio, Cia Director John Ratcliffe, Director of the National Secret Service Tulsi Gabbard and chief of staff of the White House, Susie Wiles.

Ratcliffe also submitted the name of a CIA -undercover agent in the signal chat, reported Goldberg.

The publisher described Hegseth’s rejection as “lie” and cited news that he read, which set a certain time for the attack, human goals, weapon systems and weather reports. He also said he was considering whether to publish more messages to secure his reporting, such as Hegseth and others Trump Administration Officials try to discredit him.

Hegseth had previously criticized Goldberg as “a fraudulent and highly discredited, so-called journalist, who has repeatedly done a profession to take up the Hoaxes over and over again to take into account the … Hoaxes of Russia, Russia, Russia or the beautiful people on both sides of Hox or Sucker and Delete Hoax.

However, the White House has confirmed that the group chat “seems to be an authentic news chain”.

“This seems to be an authentic news chain, and we check how an unintentional number has been added to the chain,” said Brian Hughes, spokesman for the Weiße House National Security Council, in an explanation. “The thread is a demonstration of the deep and thoughtful political coordination between high -ranking civil servants. The continuing success of Houthi surgery shows that there were no threats to troops or national security.”

The Signal Chat was planned as a massive violation of national security, and many have found that high -ranking civil servants should not discuss in detail Military plans External special safe facilities or protected state communication networks.

The American monitoring of the Watchdog group has sued Hegseth and other civil servants who were in the group chat and argues that they did not meet their obligations under the law on the federal documents by using signal for communication and planning active military operations.
