The anti-Israel activist Mahmoud Khalil returned to Columbia University on Sunday to lead another protest march After his release From an immigration finding facility on the orders of a judge.
Khalil was honored in New York City and gave a speech in which the Trump administration detained and tried to deport it.
“Well, who is Mahmoud Khalil?” Said Khlalil. “This is what the government tried to present her best to present me as someone who is violent. Mahmoud Khalil is a human rights defender. Mahmoud Khalil is a freedom fighter. Mahmoud Khalil is a refugee. Mahmoud Khalil is a father and husband. And above all, Mahmoud Khalil, is Palestinian.”
He called this final protest the beginning of a “longer struggle against justice”.

“The wave of repression, which initiated the Trump government initiated with my detention, should silence the movement for the Palestinian liberation,” said Khalil. “It was intended to frighten people in silence. It should distract us from the fact that the US government is a killing machine in Palestine and all over the world. But they completely failed. Millions of people spoke even louder that it is our responsibility to end this genocide, regardless of personal costs, no matter how personally.
Additional film material on social media showed that he had a Palestinian flag and a singing of “Columbia, Columbia, you cannot hide them. They support the genocide.”

Khalil was arrested In March in Colombia about his anti-Israel activism on campus, and an immigration judge decided that he could be removed from the country, based on a memo of Foreign Minister Marco Rubio, which said that his campus protests contradicted the American foreign policy.
Rubio quoted a provision of the law on immigration and nationality to justify his knowledge, and the US district judge Farbügel later obliged the secretary to use this decision to deport Khalil.

However, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) also added a second reason to keep Khalil detained and tried to deport it. The DHS said that Khalil supposedly left out important information from his Green Card application about groups with which he was connected, including the Apartheid sale of Columbia University.
