Lions, Chiefs players brawl after hard-fought game

A hard-fought victory Kansas City Chiefs The game against the Detroit Lions took a wild turn when the final whistle blew on Sunday night when a brawl broke out among the players.

Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes walked up to Lions defenseman Brian Branch for a handshake after the game. Branch disrespected Mahomes’ sportsmanship and it appeared wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster took issue with it.

Smith-Schuster and Branch exchanged words before the defensive back shoved the wide receiver in the helmet. Smith-Schuster got down on one knee and running back Isiah Pacheco tried to hold the Lions player back. Smith-Schuster came back to Branch and tried to knock him down.

Despite being held back by Pacheco, Branch still managed to rip Smith-Schuster’s helmet off. Players from both teams entered the mix and tried to keep the two opponents apart. When the battle ended, another blow was struck.

After the commotion died down, the players said their final goodbyes and headed back to the locker room.

The NFL will likely punish the upset somewhat.

Kansas City won the game 30-17, rebounding from a tough loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday night. The Chiefs are now 3-3.
