Author Michael Wolff complains Melania Trump after the first lady threatened to sue him if he didn’t retract his statements about her and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Wolff accused Melania Trump and her husband, the president Donald Trumpturning it into a practice of “threatening those who speak out against them.”
The Daily Beast published a story based on an interview with Wolff the socket removed in July and eventually apologized for it, admitting that it did not meet editorial standards. Melania Trump’s lawyer issued a legal threat questioning “the headline and the framing.”
Wolff argued that the first couple seeks to punish enemies by attempting to “silence their speech, generally intimidate their critics, and force unwarranted payments and North Korean-style confessions and apologies through legal action.” according to AP.

MELANIA TRUMP RELEASES VICTORY
The author said the legal threats “are designed to create a climate of fear in the nation so that people cannot freely and confidently exercise their First Amendment rights,” the AP reported.
Wolff challenged the deadline that Trump’s lawyer had given the author to retract his statements, apologize and pay damages.
Wolff first made the accusations in an interview with Daily Beast Chief Content Officer Joanna Coles for the Daily Beast Podcast. They discussed Trump’s alleged ties to Epstein, the disgraced sex criminal and financier who died in 2019. His death, which was officially ruled a suicide, remains the subject of heated debate.

DAILY BEAST WITHDRAWS STORY CLAIMING MELANIA-EPSTEIN CONNECTION AFTER LAWYERS DENIES FAKE
“[Melania] was very involved in this Epstein relationship. There’s this modeling thing, and she’s introduced by a modeling agent that both Trump and Epstein deal with. “She got to know Trump that way, Epstein knows her well,” Wolff claimed in the podcast.
The author told Fox News Digital in July that he had nothing to do with the article.
“First Lady Melania Trump is proud to continue to stand up to those who spread malicious and defamatory falsehoods while desperately seeking undeserved attention and money for their unlawful behavior,” Nicholas Clemens, a spokesman for Melania Trump, told the AP.
The first lady’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.

Wolff’s lawsuit argues that it is fair to ask whether Melania Trump allegedly fits the Epstein story, according to the AP. He intends to put the Trumps under an oath and use his legal action to address questions about the convicted sex offender, the outlet reported.
