New Orleans Police Commissioner Anne Kirkpatrick had a message for those who were unsure whether to attend Super Bowl LIX next month after a terrorist attack in the city.
Meanwhile, Kirkpatrick told Fox News contributor Ted Williams “Fox & Friends” on Thursday that football fans should still plan to come to the big game on February 9th.

“You should plan to come,” Kirkpatrick said. “For example, the Sugar Bowl is this afternoon. Here in New Orleans, we have proven time and time again that we can provide safe environments. Look at Taylor Swift (concert) just a few weeks ago – an incredible environment full of fun.” , an incredible environment where they can do something and know that they are safe. We have plans.
“This is a terrorist. The terrorist will definitely be hellbent on causing carnage and destruction, but we as a city and as a law enforcement community have already proven over time that we can handle and manage these large crowds.”
Kirkpatrick promised to address any security vulnerabilities in preparation for the NFL’s biggest day of the year.

“The Super Bowl is still in play,” she added. “We will sharpen our goal. We will close any gaps that existed – they will be corrected. And you will see today, you will experience today what we can do.”
The NFL said it still believed Fans would experience a safe Super Bowl.
“We are deeply saddened by the news of the devastating incident in New Orleans,” the NFL said in a statement Wednesday.
“The NFL and the local host committee have worked with local, state and federal authorities over the past two years to develop comprehensive safety plans,” the statement continued. “We are confident attendees will have a safe and enjoyable Super Bowl experience.”
