American Olympic champion in alpine skiing Lindsey Vonn In an interview in 2017, she said that if she were invited to President Donald Trump’s White House, she would decline the invitation. But in 2025, she was not so quick to declare her rejection.
Fox News Digital asked Vonn if she would accept one White House invitation after the upcoming Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics at the United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) Media Summit on Tuesday.

“First, I just want to say that normally every Olympic athlete is invited by Team USA… it has nothing to do with whether you win a medal or not,” Vonn said.
“I’m not going to answer that question because I just won’t answer it. I want to keep my passport,” she added.
Vonn explained her initial refusal to visit the White House in December 2017, just before the 2018 Pyeonchang Winter Olympics.

“Absolutely not,” Vonn said when asked if she would come along CNN interview 2017. “No. But I have to win to be invited. No, actually I think every US team member is invited, so no, I won’t go.”
Vonn further indicated that she did not want to represent the president.
“Well, I hope to represent the people of the United States, not the president,” Vonn said at the time. “I take the Olympics very seriously and what they mean and represent, what it means to walk under our flag at the opening ceremony. I want to represent our country well. I don’t think there are many people in our government right now who do that.”
Vonn, 41, came out of a five-year retirement last year and broke the record for oldest podium finish in the Alpine Ski World Cup.

Now she wants to be back at the Olympic Games in February.
Vonn is scheduled to compete for the first time this World Cup season in St. Moritz, Switzerland, starting December 12th.
