Minister of War Pete Hegseth spent Thanksgiving with Navy sailors stationed in the Latin American region, serving holiday meals and delivering a message of thanks for their service.
In a video on
“I’ve been deployed three times – always thinking about my family and hoping for them to get together with food, football and all those things,” Pete Hegseth said. “These people won’t be. We might bring them a turkey and some cheer.”
The secretary of war also addressed Wednesday’s attack, which targeted two targets in Washington, DC. National GuardsmenOffer prayers for the victims and their families.

“Our thoughts are also involved Washington, D.C“, with the two great Americans being ambushed and attacked,” said Pete Hegseth. “And we pray for them, for everyone around them, for their families.”
The Hegseths visited both aircraft carriers USS Gerald R Ford and the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Winston S. Churchill, according to the War Department.
In another video posted on X, the Hegseths were seen serving Thanksgiving plates to the sailors.
“I give too much candy on Halloween and too much turkey on Thanksgiving,” joked Pete Hegseth.

Aboard the USS Gerald R. Ford, the Secretary of War addressed the crew.
“Happy Thanksgiving from me, the Secretary of War. Happy Thanksgiving from the President of the United States. Happy Thanksgiving from a grateful nation,” said Pete Hegseth.
He referred to the Guardsmen again, calling them a reminder of “the courage and selflessness of Americans who put everything on the line.”

“Whether in our nation’s capital, on a walking patrol, or whether in our country’s hemisphere, out at sea, interdicting cartels, defending the American people, we are grateful for you,” said Pete Hegseth.
He added: “This Thanksgiving, on behalf of my wife and I, Jennifer, who is also here with me and will meet many of you, we simply say “thank you,” our deepest gratitude, and we renew our commitment to you and your families.”

The Secretary of War concluded with George Washington’s 1789 Thanksgiving Proclamation and added a prayer for all emergency services.
