PhonePe, in collaboration with ICICI Lombard General Insurance, has launched insurance coverage for travelers attending the Maha Kumbh Mela to be held from January 13 to February 26, 2025 in Uttar Pradesh, India.
The payment company described the insurance coverage as “unique.”
The Maha Kumbh Mela is a major spiritual event that attracts millions of devotees from all over the world.
The insurance plan is intended to provide financial security and meet the needs of travelers.
This insurance cover offers two options: Rs 59 for those traveling by train or bus and Rs 99 for domestic flights.
Insurance coverage includes hospital stays, doctor’s visits, outpatient treatment, accident insurance and loss of checked baggage.
It also offers travel cancellation protection, protection in the event of missed connecting flights and repatriation of remains.
The plan is available to PhonePe platform users until February 25, 2025.

In December 2024, PhonePe launched a new insurance plan for dengue and malaria. This plan starts at Rs 59 per year and offers coverage of up to Rs 100,000 for medical expenses incurred due to vector-borne and airborne diseases.
