When President John F. Kennedy was murdered in 1963, it took more than a decade for the Americans to see the notorious Zaprud film.
Today the murder of the conservative fire fire Charlie Kirk can be repeated in dozens of high -resolution clips on social media to change how the nation confronted political violence in real time.
“You will never be murdered again that we have no film material,” said the presidential historian and former secretary for health and human services under the Bush administration, Tevi Troy, to Fox News Digital.
“I have a picture in my head what Lincoln’s assassination looked like, but every assassination attempt since Kennedy era or even assassinations, there will be generally found material, and that’s just a very difficult thing,” he said.

The Zapruder film material from Kennedy’s assassination was largely invisible to the public until it was broadcast more than a decade after his death on national television. At that time, the Americans were “much more dependent on what the caretakers of culture would bring on TV,” said Troy, and if a program was missed, there was often no second chance to see it.
Troy added: “The gatekeepers checked what they saw.”

“Desensitization is the right word … It is not good for her,” Troy said when he was asked what the effects of such high-speed graphics material could look like for the public.
“It’s not good for your soul. It’s not about being available – it is available. Then you have to try not to see it,” he said.
Troy found that Kirk’s murder to rationalize or downstream immediately after the killings of Kirk, while others hurried to shape the background of the suspect in a way that minimized political failures for her side. He called the reaction “a creepy exercise”.

“There is a terrible tragedy in which this person, who only wants to have political conversations, was murdered with three young children,” said Troy. “But we are here today. If there is political violence, they want to make sure that it is framed that it does not bring her side down.”
The 31 -year -old founder and commentator of the Turning Point was killed by the alleged shooter Tyler Robinson on Wednesday when he answered a question at Utah Valley University. He leaves his wife and two children aged one and three years.
