Most of the Democrats seemed to stay when a 13-year-old survivor of brain cancer was asked to make an honorary home representative, which led to a quick criticism on Tuesday evening.
“A terminally ill child with brain cancer receives an honorary defense service and the Democrats refuse to stand or clap for the child,” Ric Gennell, officer, tweeted the interaction between the 13-year-old and the president.

“The Democrats refused to stand for a little boy who fought against cancer,” wrote Libs of Tiktok on X. “Really sick people.”
“I cannot believe that the mousy Democrats cannot even applaud a little boy with brain cancer or a Kennedy who wants to make America healthy again”
However, others have highlighted the general importance of the moment.
“This is the first time that I can remember to have cried during a state of the union. Thank you, President Trump,” wrote Meghan McCain. “It’s so nice. Everyone who is affected by brain cancer knows how special it is.”

McCain’s father, the late Senator John McCain, R-Arizona, died of brain cancer in 2018.
Others explained why they were skeptical of interaction.
“Trump uses a child who had brain cancer as a prop. He wants to become a police officer, so he made him an honorary member of the secret service,” the liberal commentator Kyle Kulinski posted on X.
