The CEO of Embracer, Lars Wingefors, resigns as CEO. The deputy Phil Rogers will take his place

The CEO of Embracer, Lars Wingefors, resigns as CEO, while his deputy CEO Phil Rogers will take over the top job in August.

Wingefors exchanged his Swedish Game Holding Company from the Nordic Games Group in 2016 and renamed the Embracer Group in 2019.

Wingefors was a controversial market leader in the game industry when he set up the Embracer Group for more than 100 game studios, only to fall victim to the postpandemic slowdown. When growth slowed down, Wingefors had to release many people who sell or complete studios.

Rogers joined Embracer in 2022 after Embracer bought Eidos Montreal.

Wingefors remain with Embracer and Executive Chairman of the board and he will be a member of the board of the coffee dye group.

He said in an explanation: “Although the street was not always clear, I am incredibly proud of the success of our talented teams, which have created some incredible experiences for players.” This new phase enables me to concentrate on strategic initiatives, M&A and the capital distribution in order to ensure the continued growth and success of Embracer. “

And Wingefors said: “I am more than ever convinced that the best is still ahead of us. After working very closely with Phil in recent years, I have a high degree of trust in his skills. I am looking forward to further close cooperation to further strengthen the business and increase the value in the coming years.”
