Everything old is new again: after living on one sentient island (And Mars) and divide into different teams Across the country, the X-Men are reuniting to teach the next generation of mutants and be chaotic as hell.
Marvel recently announced this X Men United, what comes from Extraordinary X-Men Writer Eve L. Ewing and artist Tiago Palma (New Avengers). Not to be confused with the 2004 film, the new ongoing series “is at the center of the mutant world,” said Marvel editor Tom Brevoort. Emma Frost has founded a new school, Greymatter Lane, whose goal is to “lead mutants to the next step in their evolution.” The school’s teachers include Wolverine, Magneto, and Rogue (as well as some non-mutant guest stars), and the location itself is intended to be a hub where “all of the major players in the X-World come together to fight, exchange ideas, and work out their differences.”
Marvel ponders United the flagship book of the X-Books Shadows of Tomorrow initiative, first announced during New York Comic Conand Ewing called the book “one of the most fun I’ve ever had writing comics. Greymatter Lane is so cool because the psychic space makes things seem weirder and more surreal while building on the classic Xavier’s School energy that we’ve all loved for decades.”
The X-Men are no strangers to schools, and the introduction of a new film prepares the mutants for their first MCU film, whenever that comes out. (Not to mention that the X-Veterans are coming back to the big screen with the next two avenger Movies.) Hopefully Greymatter doesn’t get blown up as much as the Xavier Institute.
X-Men United #1 will be released on March 11, 2026.
