The British Parliament took the first step towards decriminalization at the late term Abortion in England and Wales on Tuesday.
In a vote of 379-137, the House of Commons adopted a broader law on crimes to prevent women from being pursued according to the legal limit, possibly through birth. The current law prohibits abortions after 24 weeks, except under certain circumstances such as the lifespan of the mother.
Work MP Tonia Antoniazzi, who introduced the change, said that the change was necessary in the name of the more than 100 women who have been examined in the past five years for suspected illegal abortions.

Alithea Williams from the British Society for the Protection of Unborned Children condemned the vote In a statement.
“We are horrified that the MPs have voted for this extreme and barbaric proposal. If this clause becomes a law, a woman who breaks off her baby at some point in pregnancy would not even take a crime,” said Williams. “In fact, a woman who killed her baby would not commit a criminal offense by dismissing the law to preserve the child to preserve the child who protects a child.”
“And this was cynically exploited by an abortion lobby that exploits a situation that they have produced,” she added. “The cases in which women were prosecuted due to abortion – a number in the individual digits – came about based on a policy that they use – and sent women -abdominal pills without personal appointments.”

Another change application would have banned medical specialists to pursue a woman because she would have been helped to receive an abortion, but there was no vote.
The crime law must now go through the House of Commons before going to the House of Lords. It can be delayed there, but not blocked.
