A legislative template introduced Washington State The legislation would require drivers with a speed history to place a speed limit for their cars.
The house bill in 1596 was proposed after supporters said that an increase in fatal accidents was caused by speed crossing. The legislation was negotiated in the House Transportation Committee on Thursday and, according to Fox 13, had to be installed in the cars of certain drivers in the cars of certain drivers.
The device limits the speed of the car using the GPS technology to follow the speed limit on which the vehicle is driven. These drivers could exceed the speed limit up to three times a month.
A driver would have the device in his car if it had a new restricted license that was determined by the invoice. This is similar to using ignition locking devices for people with drunken driving.

The drivers would also receive the device during the probation period after their license for races or “excessive speed overruns” had been suspended, which is defined as driving of at least 20 miles per hour via the speed limit. The drivers could also be instructed by a court to have one Speed limit device on your car.
“We lose Washington and family members unnecessarily, tragic and preventive relatives,” said Democrat’s MP, Mari Leavitt, a first -class sponsor of the legislation.
“These are not accidents,” she added. “You are deliberately people who behave, that harms and often kill people.”
According to data in 2023, the Washington Traffic Safety Commission was one of three fatal accidents in the state a speed driver. The total number of fatal crashes and the number of speed overruns have been up since 2019.

“Between 2019 and 2024, the tickets for acceleration of drivers over 50 miles per hour compared to the speed limit rose by 200%,” said Shelly Baldwin. “So we know that this is an increasing problem that we have dealt with.”
The Republican state representative Gloria Mendoza questioned how the legislation contributes to protecting people by continuing to continue on Speeder.
“So we try to help you get your license back by giving you this tool,” said Mendoza. “How does that help to save life?”

Leavitt replied: “We would like to find a way how you can drive lawfully but safely. And to have it safe on the street in a safe way, will save lives because you still drive and drive quickly. And this device will ensure this speed limit that you cannot.
The bill is not yet planned for A Vote out of the committee.
